Go Connect helps you get connected to the Internet using'COSMOTE's cellular networks, including COSMOTE's HSPA network. With COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect you can: Page 5 COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect User Guide ■ Connect to the Internet with a single click. ■ Keep an eye on your network usage. ■ Easily send and receive SMS/text messages on your laptop. ■ Import/export and manage SIM card contacts. 1.1 How To... Here are just some of the things you can do with COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect... ■ Start COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect (section 1.1.1) ■ Get online (section 1.1.2) ■ Manage SIM Card PINs (section 1.1.3) ■ Change your cellular device (section 1.1.4) ■ Check your network usage (section 1.1.5) ■ Check your roaming status (section 1.1.6) ■ Send and receive text messages (section 1.1.7) ■ Get help (section 1.1.8) ■ Manage Applications (section 2.4) 1.1.1 Start COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect To start COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect, either click on the COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect desktop icon or select Programs > COSMOTE > COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect from the Windows Start menu. 1.1.2 Get Online To start an Internet connection, all you need to do is click on the Connect button in the COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect console. Page 6 COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect User Guide 1.1.3 Manage SIM Card PINs Select Settings, PIN Management to enter or change the SIM card PIN for a device or disable PIN usage. See section 5.1 for further details. 1.1.4 Change Your Cellular Device Select Settings, Advanced Settings, Default Devices to change your default device. See section 5.2.2 for further details. 1.1.5 Check Your Network Usage You can click on the Usage tab in the console to check up on your network usage. See section 2.3 for further details. 1.1.6 Check Your Roaming Status You will receive a warning if you leave your network area and are roaming. 1.1.7 Send and Receive Text Messages You can send and receive text messages and manage SIM card contacts from your PC using COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect's built in SMS application, which you can start by clicking on the button in the COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect console. See section 6 for further details. 1.1.8 Get Help Whatever you are doing with COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect, you can get help by pressing the F1 key. This will display context-sensitive help information - that is, help about the function or dialog you are currently using. Page 8 COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect User Guide 2 The COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect Console The COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect console contains a standard Windows menu at the top, a set of three tab cards and a status pane in the middle. News and support information banners are accessible from the side and bottom of the console. These components are described below, along with COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect's system tray icon and toolbar console. In the top right corner of the console are two buttons: : Minimizes the console to a system tray icon (section 2.5). : Terminates COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect. 2.1 The Menu Bar The menu bar contains the following menus: The File Menu (see section 3) This menu contains the following options: Page 9 COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect User Guide ■ Exit Terminates COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect console. The Network Menu (see section 4) This menu contains the following options: ■ Profiles Let you select the Connection Profile that you wish . ■ Set Network Mode (see section 4) Lets you limit the types of cellular network that COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect will connect to. ■ Network Selection (see section 4.1) Lets you switch between automatic network selection (the default) and manual network selection. The Settings Menu (see section 5) This menu contains the following options: ■ PIN Management... (see section 5.1) Lets you enable and disable the PIN code security checks on SIM cards. ■ Auto Connect Switches COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect into autoconnect mode (COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect connects automatically on start-up). ■ Advanced Settings... (see section 5.2) Provides access to a range of advanced functions. The Help Menu This menu contains the following options: ■ Update Now Let you download available updates for the Internet On The Go Connect application. ■ Help Displays help about COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect. ■ About Displays information about COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect. Page 10 COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect User Guide 2.2 Status Pane The middle of the COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect console is occupied by a status pane used to display the following network and connection information: ■ A status message that either describes any action currently being performed by COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect or else indicates whether or not a connection is currently possible. ■ Your connection status. ■ A new SMS/text message indicator that indicates when a new text message has been received. Some devices (all handsets and some PC cards) supported by COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect do not report signal strength while a connection is active. In this case, the signal level reported by COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect is only reliable when no connection is active. 2.3 The Usage Tab This tab contains the following options: ■ Connection History Select this option to display historical network usage information. The information is displayed in the COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect console's status pane, replacing the usual status display. For details, see section 2.3.1. ■ Current Session Select this option to display network usage information for the current session. The information is displayed in the COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect console's status pane, replacing the usual status display. For details, see section 2.3.2. Page 11 COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect User Guide 2.3.1 Connection History The History pane contains statistics regarding all traffic sent and received via COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect during a selected period. It contains a bar graph showing the total traffic (upload and download) for each day during the selected period. You can select the time period and bearer you are interested in using buttons above the graph. The time period options are: ■ Today ■ This week ■ Last 7 days ■ Current month ■ Last 30 days ■ Previous month The Bearer options are: ■ All bearers ■ 2G ■ 3G Page 12 COSMOTE Internet On The Go Connect User Guide Click on the Reset button to reset the history function (that is, clear all currently stored historical data).
