This User’s Guide contains five chapters to help you fully utilize the features of Typing Instructor and two additional chapters, featuring templates for personal and business letters and supplemental information and facts about typing. Using the User’s Guide On Screen You may use the scroll bar at the right of this screen to scroll through the entire User’s Guide. You may also click the bookmarks displayed on the left of your screen to jump to specific areas, and then scroll down as needed to read that section. The standard buttons on the Acrobat Reader toolbar shown below may also be used to navigate this document. Printing Portions of the User’s Guide You can print pages at any time by selecting Print from the File menu. Follow the onscreen instructions that appear. I N T R O D U C T I O N : Getting Started Typing Instructor Platinum User’s Guide 5 C h a p t e r 1 : Installing and Starting Installing and Starting If you already have an older version of Typing Instructor installed on your computer, you must uninstall it before installing the latest version of Typing Instructor. To uninstall, please see the steps below under To Uninstall. Installing Typing Instructor To Install in Windows or Mac: Follow the installation instructions on the Typing Instructor CD label. Starting Typing Instructor in Windows To Run: Partial Install: 1. Insert the Typing Instructor CD into your CD-ROM drive. 2. Click the Start button, highlight Programs, highlight Typing Instructor, and then click Typing Instructor. Full Install: 1. Click the Start button, highlight Programs, highlight Typing Instructor, and then click Typing Instructor. Running Typing Instructor from the Windows CD To run Typing Instructor without installing to your hard drive, click the Run from CD – No Install Required option on the AutoPlay menu. Uninstalling Typing Instructor in Windows To Uninstall: 1. Click the Start button, highlight Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. Click the Add/Remove Programs icon. 3. Scroll down to Typing Instructor in the Add or Remove Programs window. 4. Click the Add/Remove button. 5. Click the Remove button, and follow the prompts in the uninstall window. Starting Typing Instructor on a Mac To Run: Double-click on the Typing Instructor icon in the Applications folder. Uninstalling Typing Instructor on a Mac To Uninstall: Drag the Typing Instructor Folder in the Applications folder into the Trash.
