PRODUCT CATALOGUE CBUILDING CODE - DURABILITY The Building Code places the responsibility on manufacturers to clearly state a the conditions for which products are or are not suitable b the durability and frequency of maintenance for the products continued acceptable performance Speci ?cally the Building Code categorises durability in the following way Clause B b For services to which access is di ?cult and for hidden ?xing of the external envelope and attached structures of a building the life of the building being not less than years c For other ?xings of the building envelope and attached structures the building envelope lining supports and other building elements having moderate ease of access but which are di ?cult to replace years d For linings renewable protective coatings ?ttings and other building elements to which there is ready access years Iplex Pipelines have decided to adopt the following clause used by B R A N Z in their appraisal certi ?cates for products such as the pipe and ?ttings that we manufacture Durability The pipe or ?tting will have a service life that is compatible with other pipe and ?ttings manufactured to the relevant NZ Standard and any other recognised Standard if appropriate Thus correctly designed and installed drainage or pressure systems using Iplex Pipelines' pipes or ?ttings will satisfy the performance requirements of both N Z B C Clause B b years - services to which access is di ?cult and N Z B C Clause B c years - services to which access is moderate but are di ?cult to replace Clauses b and c cover the majority of applications for products of our own manufacture with the exception of rainwater and rural polyethylene pipe used above ground which satisfy the requirements of N Z B C Clause B d years ?? services which have ready access UNSUITABLE APPLICATIONS Iplex Pipelines PVC pressure pipes should not be used i as a conductor for earthing electrical appliances ii with aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons ketones esters and ethers Refer to ? A Guide to Chemical Resistance of Thermoplastic and Elastomeric Materials ? - available from Iplex Pipelines iii at continuous service temperature above ? C uPVC or ? C mPVC iv where provision for pressure derating has not been made above ? C v with compressed air vi without adequate support to the pipe both in above ground and below ground applications vii without adequate thrust support viii where depth of cover is less than ? mm where pipeline is not subject to vehicular loading ? mm where pipeline is subject to vehicular loading not in roadways ? mm where pipeline is subject to vehicular loading in sealed roadways ? mm where pipeline is subject to vehicular loading in unsealed roadways ? mm where pipeline is subject to construction equipment loading ix where working pressure surge cyclic pressure exceeds the nominated pressure performance rating of the pipe x when exposed to direct sunlight above ground for long term applications without protection This
